14. Diesel Locos (Type 5: 3000hp+) - Class 66
1st January 2006

In the late 1990s, the '66' was introduced by EWS, which has since become the standard locomotive for Freight Operators, with several hundred of the class in service, alongwith other examples in Europe. A representative selection of the EWS(DBS) and Freightliner fleets are shown, while from the smaller operators, all of the GBRf are included, the majority of the DRS, plus examples from the Fastline, (shortlived) Advenza, and Colas fleets.
Of note, the following 'celebrity' locos are included:
- 66152 (first 66 in DB Schenker livery), 66405 (Malcolm), 66411 (Eddie), 66412 (Malcolm), 66414 (James), 66522 (Shanks), 66623 (Bardon), 66709 (Medite)
